There is clear packing tape all over that vertical mount so nothing sticks to it. In this picture you can also see how the plate is spaced out away from the vertical mount. To do this spacing, I used clear tape to tape more tongue depressor sticks to the vertical mount, right next to the screw holes. I think that will be enough space for a layer of 6 oz glass and two coats of primer (it may be close!).
