Inside of rail ground n sanded
Here, the inboard edge of the caprail is already belt sanded, then block sanded to finalize the top radius. Doug Fir wood Flour was added to the laminate mix to make a better color match for the scarf joint in the event of a possible bright finish. Wood for the rail and the *clamp* laminates were fairly lightweight samples. Yes, some weight has been added, but it has been very little compared to the great strength added for rod holders (going after *BIG* stripers), mounts for splash boards or hardtop.
