Notice also the extra ply laminate along the top. I modified the plans to reinforce the top and leave it openable. An emergency daggerboard can be slid in and secured with bolts, or, a top piece gets securely bolted in with a sheave in it for the CB rope. A rowing seat will have port/stb raised ends to put the seat above the CB case, much as MikeD's Caravelle rowing seat posted somewhere else on this forum.
