Tabernacle face plate assembly back in *jig* to cure with a 100 watt light
|
After the fillets were smoothed (and not yet cured), I cleaned up any ooze that was on the tabernacle plastic masking. Next, I carefully slid the assembly back into the upright tabernacle because it is serving as the jig to keep things lined up for the cure. I didn't want to risk anything slipping or sliding without a jig (even though the epoxy blend seemed thick enough to hold things in place free standing), and the tabernacle is the perfect jig. I used a mahogany and D Fir wood flour blend with about 10% silica, mixed to almost a thick peanut butter, just barely still able to smooth without pulling away. The slow hardener gave plenty of working time :D . To kick the cure a bit, a 100 watt worklight was positioned at about 12 inches from the top and aimed down into the tabernacle depths.
