1"x3"x 6' clear pine (*Select Pine* at the big box stores) gave a good *half-size* to work with, and left just a few inches of scrap left after the eight inch cuts. :) And its perfect edges will make good use of a cleanly and squarely cut posterboard template, making the marking of reference and cut lines easy and accurate.
