Starboard plank glued
|
The starboard plank has been glued and screwed on the transom, the ribs and the stem. It looks easy, but it has been the most difficult job yet. First, everything had to be beveled. I used a hand plane and the belt sander for this. Then, the panel had to be fair. To achieve fairness, you fix the panel in the middle rib. Then you roll it against the aft ribs until it touches all the ribs and the transom, clamping it with every rib. Then you rotate it until the transom corner is in line with the panel. Then you roll it against the fore ribs and the stem. If it in line with the chine position marked on the stem, you go and play LOTTO. Otherwise you unroll everything, you move it 1mm up or down in the middle rib and start again. It took me about 2 hours to put it in position. Then you screw it with one pivot screw on each rib to mark the position permanently.
