Rudderhead shelf is important to set height of tiller at rest

Don't forget that shelf or *tiller stop* on the rudder head. It is important. When you make your final decision on the pivot bolt location, it will set the angle at which the tiller sits naturally. Don't drill the hole in the rudderhead until the tiller is complete and clamped at the proper comfortable height for you when sitting at the helm. For me, with my hand resting on my knee, the tiller sits about an inch higher than that, easily in the curve of my fingers while my hand is resting on my knee, and
