Tiller - wingnut on pivot bolt
|
Excuse the bolts forward. I still need to spec the proper length in SS. Note the wingnut on the pivot bolt. If I'm sailing, and decide to fish while motoring when the wind dies, I can completely unship and stow the tiller and rudder, easily removing the tiller due to the wingnut, even if I leave the rudder in the water, secured straight with rope stops to the tow ubolts. Its all there in place, so its all so very easy. But you need to keep inspecting the wingnut to make sure it doesn't loosen. Hasn't been an issue yet, but I'll make some provisions if I go coastal near an inlet, like a nylon insert nut as seen lower in this picture on the (4) screws of the pintle mount. :)
