The utility mast was not in the way for fishing at all
Now that I know this stubby mast works, and rain is forecast all week, I'll remove the mast and seal and paint it. Then build the 8 foot cedar extension (12 foot total) for masthead and anchor lights, and VHF antenna. I used that PVC to do some quick measuring under two bridges. I'll have about 14 inches to spare under the lowest bridge, but will need to lower or rotate the antenna to get under it. Hauling up a sail will not work with 12 feet of this unstayed.
