FL11 Side Butt Blocks
I botched the first epoxy priming with the incorrect ratio - doh! - but after much sanding, priming and letting dry the sides were ready to be joined. Here's the results of the butt blocks for each side. The join seems strong but it's not pretty. I'm afraid I may have put too much weight on the blocks while waiting for the glue to set - or that I used too much glue. You can see the excess glue squeezed out from the sides.

It's good to have excess glue squeeze out but don't use too much preasure. I would be worried about the areas that the glue does not ooze out. Those spots could be "starved".

PJ, thanks for the comment - I was really worred that the butt would fail but after all the twisting and squeezing the sides went through today to square the frames up, I finally believe that I used enough glue. There may be some starved spots, but I really covered the butt from one end to the other in glue, pretty thick in some spots, so I'm hoping that there aren't any starved spots that will cause problems later.
